Skinny Puppy
Skinny Puppy were a Canadian electro-industrial group who formed in Vancouver in 1982 and stayed active until 2023. cEvin Key began them as an experimental side-project while playing in the new wave band Images in Vogue, and they became a full-time concern once vocalist Nivek Ogre joined. Key and Ogre were the only constant members throughout. Their sound blended industrial, funk, noise, new wave, electro and rock, with inventive use of sampling.
Signed to Nettwerk, they built a devoted cult following through the 1980s and early 1990s, helped by theatrical, horror-themed live shows that raised issues such as chemical warfare and animal testing. VIVIsectVI, Bites, Rabies and Too Dark Park are the albums most often returned to. After a troubled spell in Malibu, Ogre's departure and Dwayne Goettel's death in 1995, they reformed in 2003 and released Weapon in 2013.
