THRaKaTTaK
THRaKaTTaK is a live album by King Crimson, released on 21 May 1996. It was drawn from the band's 1995 THRAK tour of the United States and Japan, and it follows the studio album THRAK from the same year.
Rather than documenting a single concert, it takes a more adventurous route. Each night, the band stretched out the instrumental piece "THRAK" with a collective improvisation. Many of those performances were edited together here into an hour-long journey, framed at either end by the song's main theme. It's a good pick for anyone curious about Crimson's improvising side. One section, "Fearless and Highly Thrakked", turns up again on the 1999 live album On Broadway, while an alternative version, "Biker Babes of the Rio Grande", appears on the 2001 compilation Vrooom Vrooom.
