Epitaph, Volumes One & Two
Epitaph is a live set drawn from concert performances and radio sessions that King Crimson recorded in 1969, the year their debut album, In the Court of the Crimson King, arrived. It was issued as four discs, and only the first two reached ordinary retail shops. A flyer inside explained how to order the remaining pair by mail.
Released on 21 March 1997, it looks back to the band's earliest days, long before the sound of Discipline in 1981 or the return of THRAK in 1995. For anyone who loves that first record, it offers a chance to hear the music of that year on stage and in the radio studio. The third and fourth discs later appeared as a separate two-disc set from DGM in 2006.
