Album
Magica
Magica is the eighth studio album by Dio, released on 21 March 2000 through Spitfire Records. It is a concept album, produced by frontman Ronnie James Dio himself, and it follows Angry Machines in the band's run of records, with Killing the Dragon next in line.
It also brings guitarist Craig Goldy back into the fold, having played on Dream Evil and later appearing on Master of the Moon. Jimmy Bain is on bass and Simon Wright on drums. Magica was meant to open a trilogy of concept albums, and Dio spoke of starting work on Magica II & III once his tour with Heaven & Hell had finished. He died on 16 May 2010, and the only song to emerge from those plans was "Electra". That gives the record a particular weight for anyone following his story.
