Live in Detroit, MI, December 13, 1971
Live in Detroit, MI is a two-CD live set from King Crimson, issued through the band's Collector's Club in October 2001. It was recorded at the Eastown Theatre in Detroit, Michigan, in 1971, the year of Islands, the last studio album before the group's sound changed with Larks' Tongues in Aspic in 1973.
The packaging gets a couple of details wrong. It gives the recording month as December, though the show took place on 13 November, and it lists "Mars" as the second track on the second disc when the piece is really "The Devil's Triangle". Drummer Ian Wallace supplies the liner notes, so the account of the period comes from someone who was on stage. It is one for fans keen to hear how this line-up sounded in concert.
