Nightlife
Nightlife is the fourth studio album by the Irish band Thin Lizzy, released on 8 November 1974 on Vertigo. It followed Vagabonds of the Western World and was produced by Ron Nevison together with bandleader Phil Lynott. Some reissues spell the title as two words, matching the song, but the original sleeve runs it together.
The record matters because it is the first to present Thin Lizzy as a quartet, with Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson arriving on guitars. That pairing sets up the twin-guitar line-up that would shape the band's next few albums, starting with Fighting in 1975. Among the songs is "Philomena", which Lynott wrote for his mother, a tender touch from a writer who was already finding his voice. If you want to hear the band at the moment its sound began to change, this is the place to start.
