The Collection
The Collection is a 2002 compilation from Ugly Kid Joe, issued by Spectrum Music and released in the UK and Europe the same year. It gathers the band's hard rock and heavy metal-tinged output into a single overview, which makes it a handy way in for anyone who remembers them from the early 1990s but never kept up with the albums.
The band formed in Isla Vista, California, in 1989, taking a name that spoofed glam metal act Pretty Boy Floyd. Their biggest sellers were the EP As Ugly as They Wanna Be (1991), the first EP to go platinum, and the debut album America's Least Wanted (1992), both double platinum in the US. They followed with Menace to Sobriety (1995) and Motel California (1996) before splitting in 1997. This compilation dates from that quiet period, well before their 2010 reunion.
