The Lost Crowes
The Lost Crowes is a two-disc compilation from The Black Crowes, released in September 2006 on American Recordings. It gathers two sets of recordings that stayed in the vault: Tall, from sessions in 1993, and Band, from sessions in 1997.
For anyone who loves Amorica, Tall is the draw. Many of its songs are early versions of tracks that ended up on that 1994 album, and one turned up on Three Snakes and One Charm in 1996. Band was recorded in 1997 but never released at the time. The band made By Your Side instead, so this set is the only place to hear what that abandoned record sounded like. Together the discs show the Crowes working through ideas between their early successes and the albums that followed.
