Unsung: The Best of Helmet (1991–1997)
Unsung: The Best of Helmet (1991–1997) is a compilation from the American alternative metal band, released through Interscope Records on 27 January 2004. It gathers material from the group's major-label years, with the title covering the span from 1991 to 1997. That starting point lines up with Interscope's reissue of Strap It On, which first appeared in 1990 on Amphetamine Reptile Records.
The collection features the core trio of vocalist and guitarist Page Hamilton, bassist Henry Bogdan and drummer John Stanier. Guitarists Peter Mengede, who was in the band from 1989 to 1993, and Rob Echeverria, who played from 1994 to 1996, also appear. It's a handy way into Helmet's early story, taking in the records before Size Matters arrived later in 2004.
