Welcome to Sky Valley
Welcome to Sky Valley is the third studio album by Kyuss, the American stoner rock band, released on 28 June 1994 through Elektra. It followed Wretch and Blues for the Red Sun, and it is also known simply as Sky Valley or Kyuss. The record sits in the heavier, slower-burning corner of hard rock, where stoner rock and stoner metal meet.
It marks a changing of the guard. Scott Reeder plays bass for the first time here, having replaced Nick Oliveri in 1992, while Brant Bjork, a founding member, made his last appearance on a Kyuss album, leaving shortly after recording wrapped up. There's a nice story behind "N.O.", too: it began life with Across the River, a band fronted by Mario Lalli that included Reeder, and Bjork suggested Kyuss cover it as a tribute. One more album, ...And the Circus Leaves Town, would follow in 1995.
