Kyuss

Kyuss were an American stoner rock band formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1987. They are regarded as one of the genre's pioneers, and their sound, filed under stoner rock, stoner metal and desert rock, gave that corner of heavy music much of its identity.

They made four studio albums: Wretch in 1991, Blues for the Red Sun in 1992, Welcome to Sky Valley in 1994 and …And the Circus Leaves Town in 1995. Welcome to Sky Valley is the one most listeners reach for first, with Blues for the Red Sun close behind. After the band split, its members spread into Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, Screaming Trees, Eagles of Death Metal and Them Crooked Vultures, among others. A reunion in 2010 as Kyuss Lives! ended in a legal dispute, and the band continued as Vista Chino.
