…And the Circus Leaves Town
…And the Circus Leaves Town is the fourth and final studio album by Kyuss, the American stoner rock band, released in July 1995 on Elektra. It follows Wretch, Blues for the Red Sun and Welcome to Sky Valley, and it arrived not long before the group split up. Alfredo Hernández, of Yawning Man, had taken over on drums after Brant Bjork left in 1993.
The sound is tighter and more direct than on the earlier records, in both the songwriting and the production. It did not match the commercial or critical success of Blues for the Red Sun and Welcome to Sky Valley, and critic Dean Brown links that partly to thin promotion and the break-up. He still argues it deserves to be cherished as much as those two molten hot predecessors. "One Inch Man", the only official single, came with a video.
