Complete ‘B’ Sides
Complete 'B' Sides is a compilation from the American alternative rock band Pixies, released on 3 May 2001 by 4AD. It gathers the flip sides from seven of their eight UK singles, plus one from a US single, taken from the late 1980s and early 1990s. The singles in question are "Gigantic", "Monkey Gone to Heaven", "Here Comes Your Man", "Velouria", "Dig for Fire", "Planet of Sound" and the US release of "Alec Eiffel". The eighth UK single, "Letter to Memphis", had no B-side.
It's a handy companion to the studio albums, and the booklet adds to the appeal, with Black Francis commenting on each track. Of "Velvety Instrumental Version" he points out that the title suggests a vocal version exists, when it never did. A sung take, simply called "Velvety", eventually turned up on Frank Black and the Catholics' 2002 album Devil's Workshop.
