Renaissance Men
Renaissance Men is the ninth studio album by The Wildhearts, and it ended a ten-year silence in the studio, following ¡Chutzpah! in 2009. It was recorded at Treehouse Studio in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, with Jim Pinder producing, and came out on 3 May 2019. Opening track "Dislocated" was the only single.
The record gave the band their best chart showing in years, reaching number 11 on the UK Albums Chart, their first top twenty entry since P.H.U.Q. in 1995. Critics were warm towards it, drawing comparisons with the 1993 debut Earth vs. The Wildhearts and with P.H.U.Q. itself, which is a good pointer if those are your favourites. The EP Diagnosis followed, and both releases were taken out on a tour that led to the 2020 album 30 Year Itch.
