…of the Dark Light
…of the Dark Light is the eighth studio album by American technical death metal band Suffocation, released on 9 June 2017 through Nuclear Blast. It follows Pinnacle of Bedlam from 2013 and arrived as the band's first record with guitarist Charlie Errigo and drummer Eric Morotti.
It also marks the last time original vocalist Frank Mullen fronts the band on a studio album, which gives it a particular place in the Suffocation story. At just over 35 minutes, it is the shortest record in their catalogue, so it moves quickly. Anyone following the band from Effigy of the Forgotten onwards will want to hear how this line-up changed things, and how Mullen's farewell sits alongside the group's later work, beginning with Hymns From the Apocrypha in 2023.
