Real to Reel: Reel 1

Real to Reel: Reel 1 is Tesla's sixth studio album, released on 5 June 2007 through their own label, Tesla Electric Company Recordings. Rather than offering a set of new originals, the band turned to classic rock songs from the late 1960s and early 1970s and played them in their own style. They recorded everything on analogue tape with vintage equipment, a fitting approach for material from that era.

It follows Into the Now from 2004 and sits at the start of a two-part project, with a second volume, Reel 2, gathering a further twelve tracks from the same sessions. Fans who bought it at Best Buy could get a bonus CD with four songs, including "War Pigs" and unplugged versions of "Shine Away", "Modern Day Cowboy" and "Paradise". It is a good way to hear a hard rock band pay tribute to the records that shaped its sound.
