Tesla
Tesla are a hard rock band from Sacramento, California. Bassist Brian Wheat and guitarist Frank Hannon started out in late 1981 as City Kidd, and the name changed shortly before their first record because another group had a similar one. By 1984 singer Jeff Keith, guitarist Tommy Skeoch and drummer Troy Luccketta had joined, completing the line-up that played on all their records during the first run.
They rose during the hair metal boom with Mechanical Resonance (1986), which brought "Modern Day Cowboy" and a cover of "Little Suzi". The Great Radio Controversy (1989) reached No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and gave them the top-ten single "Love Song". Their acoustic live set Five Man Acoustical Jam delivered "Signs", their biggest hit at No. 8 on the Hot 100. Psychotic Supper and Bust a Nut followed, then a split in 1996 and a return in 2000. Dave Rude replaced Skeoch in 2006, and the covers album Homage arrives in 2026.
