Winger are an American hard rock band who formed in New York City in 1987. They broke through at the tail end of the decade with their self-titled debut in 1988, then followed it with In the Heart of the Young in 1990. Both went platinum, and between them they produced the chart singles "Seventeen", "Headed for a Heartbreak" and "Miles Away". In 1990 the band were nominated for an American Music Award as Best New Heavy Metal Band.

The shifting tastes of the early 1990s, with grunge taking over, cooled their momentum after 1993's Pull, and they split in 1994. They reunited in 2001 and toured successfully, then recorded IV in 2006, their first studio album in over 13 years. Karma followed in 2009, Better Days Comin' in 2014 and Seven in 2023. Those first two albums and Pull remain the best place to start.
