Album
2020
2020 is Bon Jovi's fifteenth studio album, released on 2 October 2020 through Island. It was first due out in May of that year, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed it back, and that delay shaped what ended up on the record. The singles "Unbroken" and "Limitless" arrived before the postponement, with "American Reckoning" and "Do What You Can" following in the summer.
The most interesting part of the story is what changed during lockdown. Jon Bon Jovi wrote two new songs while in quarantine: "Do What You Can", about the fight against the pandemic, and "American Reckoning", a protest song about the murder of George Floyd, written in support of Black Lives Matter. They replaced "Luv Can" and "Shine", and the running order was reworked too, since the first version opened with "Beautiful Drug" and closed with "Blood in the Water". It's a record marked by the year it was finished in, which makes it worth hearing for fans following the band's later chapters.
