"Born to Be My Baby" came out on 24 November 1988 as the second single from New Jersey, Bon Jovi's fourth studio album. Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora wrote it with Desmond Child, and it was released as an EP on PolyGram.

It did well on both sides of the Atlantic's neighbouring charts, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Cash Box Top 100 in the US, plus number seven on the Album Rock Tracks chart. It also made the top 20 in Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. Oddly, it was left off the 1994 Cross Road compilation, but it did make the 2010 Greatest Hits set. An acoustic version later appeared on This Left Feels Right, which is worth tracking down.
