Quiet Riot's self-titled record of 1988, sometimes called QR or Quiet Riot IV, was the American metal band's sixth studio album. It came out on 21 October 1988 on Pasha, and it is the odd one out in their catalogue. Founding singer Kevin DuBrow had been fired before sessions began, because his habit of talking down to other bands in the press had strained the group's relationships with those acts. In his place came Paul Shortino, formerly of Rough Cutt.

The change of voice was not the only shake-up. Bassist Chuck Wright left and Sean McNabb took over, while Jimmy Waldo on keyboards and Jimmy Johnson on bass, heard on "Stay with Me Tonight" and "Coppin' a Feel", added studio support. Spencer Proffer, who had produced every Quiet Riot album released in the US until then, was back in the chair. It remains the only Quiet Riot release without DuBrow singing during his lifetime, and the first with no original members, which makes it a curious listen for anyone following the band's story.
