Something Wicked

Something Wicked is the fifth studio album by American thrash band Nuclear Assault, released on 23 February 1993 through I.R.S. Records. It arrived with a changed line-up: founding members Dan Lilker and Anthony Bramante had left in 1992, before recording began. Scott Metaxas and Dave DiPietro stepped in, both having been in the last Prophet line-up that made the Recycled album. DiPietro had also played alongside drummer Glenn Evans in T.T. Quick.

The record leans away from the hardcore punk and thrash roots of the band's early work, settling into a slower, groove-driven metal sound. The title track got its own music video. It was the band's last studio album for twelve years, until Third World Genocide appeared in 2005, which makes it a curious chapter worth hearing. Metal Hammer also once put its cover on a list of the most hilariously ugly metal sleeves, if you want a warning before you go looking.
