The Thrash of Naked Limbs
The Thrash of Naked Limbs is the second EP from English doom metal band My Dying Bride, released in February 1993 on Peaceville. It also appeared on vinyl. By this point the band had grown to a six-piece, with Martin Powell, who had been working as a session violinist and keyboardist, becoming an official member.
It sits between their debut album As the Flower Withers and Turn Loose the Swans, and later turned up in the limited box set The Stories and then on the 1995 compilation Trinity. The title track has a video on For Darkest Eyes, with slow-motion shots of a girl writhing in her sleep and glimpses of the band walking with torches. That version is a couple of minutes shorter than the EP cut. "Le Cerf Malade" sets a fragment of Jean de la Fontaine's 17th-century fable, whose title means "The Sick Stag".
