Album
Lost Paradise
Lost Paradise is the debut studio album by Paradise Lost, the British band later labelled gothic metal. It came out on 5 February 1990 on Peaceville, and it captures the group in their early death-doom form, long before the more melodic shape of their later records.
As the first entry in a catalogue that runs through to Ascension in 2025, it is the place to start if you want to hear where the band began. Gothic followed in 1991, and Icon in 1993. The album was reissued in 2003 with three bonus tracks, which makes it easier to track down. It is worth hearing for the raw beginnings of a sound the band would go on to reshape.
