Album
One Second
One Second is the sixth studio album by British gothic metal band Paradise Lost, released on 14 July 1997 through Music for Nations. It follows Draconian Times from 1995 and comes before Host in 1999. It was their first record made in digital format, and it is the album where the band began to move away from straightforward gothic metal and towards a more electronic sound.
That change brought rewards. It is the bestselling record of their career, and it helped the band sign with the German branch of the major label EMI. A twentieth anniversary edition arrived on 14 July 2017, with a remaster by Jaime Gomez Arellano and a second disc recorded at Shepherd's Bush Empire on 26 January 1998, on the tour for the album. That show had appeared before on the Evolve DVD, but this was its first CD release. In 2020, Metal Hammer named One Second one of the 20 best metal albums of 1997.
