Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us
Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us is the twelfth studio album by Paradise Lost, the British gothic metal band whose records also draw on doom metal. It came out on 25 September 2009 through Century Media, with a US release following on 6 October 2009. It arrived between In Requiem (2007) and Tragic Idol (2012).
The sleeve is worth a look in itself. The artwork is based on "The Abbot", a woodcut from the Danse Macabre series first published in 1538, which suits a title that sets faith against mortality. For anyone tracing the band's long run from Lost Paradise in 1990 onwards, this is the record that sits in the middle of their later years, and a good one to hear if you enjoy their darker, heavier side.
