Queensrÿche's self-titled record is the band's thirteenth studio album and the first with Todd La Torre on vocals. It arrived while two versions of Queensrÿche were operating, the other led by former singer Geoff Tate, who gave up his rights to the name in an amicable settlement in 2014. Released on 25 June 2013 through Century Media, it sits in the progressive metal tradition the band is known for.

The producer is a significant part of the story. James "Jimbo" Barton mixed and engineered Operation: Mindcrime and Empire, then co-produced Promised Land, so his return links this new chapter to the band's most celebrated period. For anyone curious how the group sounded after the split, or who simply wants to hear that familiar production hand at work again, it is a natural place to start.
