Paradise Lost

Paradise Lost are a British gothic metal band who formed in Halifax, West Yorkshire, in 1988. They are regarded as pioneers of death-doom and a major influence on gothic metal. The line-up has stayed remarkably steady: singer Nick Holmes, guitarists Greg Mackintosh and Aaron Aedy, and bassist Steve Edmondson, with only the drummers changing. Holmes and Mackintosh write almost all of the songs.

Their run of albums began with Lost Paradise in 1990 and has continued through to Ascension in 2025. Along the way they have moved between doom, death metal and gothic rock. Draconian Times, Icon and One Second are the records many listeners start with, and fans of Katatonia, Anathema, Opeth and My Dying Bride will feel at home here.
