Tragic Illusion 25
Tragic Illusion 25 (The Rarities) is a compilation from the British band Paradise Lost, released through Century Media in November 2013. It is their fifth compilation, and it gathers odds and ends rather than a straight run of hits. Alongside two cover versions, two remixes and two re-recordings, it includes "Loneliness Remains", a track that had not appeared before.
The title nods to the band's twenty-five years together, and the release arrived the year after their studio album Tragic Idol. For anyone who knows the main albums from Lost Paradise through to Draconian Times and beyond, this is a chance to hear the band in a looser, more curious mood. It suits listeners who like to see how a doom and gothic metal outfit sounds when it revisits its own songs.
