X-No Absolutes

Popularity21.8

X – No Absolutes is the eleventh studio album by Prong, the American heavy metal band led by guitarist and vocalist Tommy Victor. It came out in 2016, through Steamhammer, and Victor produced it with engineer Chris Collier.

The record matters partly for who played on it. Victor was joined by bassist Jason Christopher and drummer Art Cruz, the same pair who had played on the band's previous album, Songs from the Black Hole. It was the first time Prong had kept an identical line-up from one record to the next since 1990. Victor himself pitched the songs as riff-heavy crushers, furious barn burners and fist-pumping sing-alongs, which is a fair guide to the groove metal on offer. Worth hearing for a band in a settled, confident groove.
