Songs From the Black Hole
Songs From the Black Hole is a covers album by the New York groove metal band Prong, released in March 2015 on Steamhammer. Frontman Tommy Victor conceived it as a way of tracing the band's musical roots and the wide range of influences behind their sound, with a theme of urban decay, desolation, insecurity and change running through it.
It arrived between Ruining Lives (2014) and X-No Absolutes (2016), so it works as a pause in the band's run of original records. The basic tracks were recorded with Peter Funke at Trixx Studios in Berlin, and Chris Collier then handled the mixing, mastering and additional recording in Santa Clarita, California. Jason Christopher adds backing vocals on "Give Me the Cure". For anyone who knows Prong through their own songs, it is a chance to hear the music that shaped them.
