Hidden City
Hidden City is the tenth studio album by The Cult, released on 5 February 2016 through Cooking Vinyl and Dine Alone Records. It sits at the end of a trilogy of records that began with Born into This in 2007, and it follows Choice of Weapon from 2012 in the band's run of later albums, which blend hard rock with an alternative edge.
There is a notable change in the line-up here. Bassist Chris Wyse, a fixture on the band's records since their 1994 self-titled album, does not appear. Producer Bob Rock took on the bass parts alongside Chris Chaney of Jane's Addiction. Rock was making his fifth Cult album behind the desk, so the sound was in familiar hands. It is a record for anyone who wants to hear how the band's long partnership with Rock played out in their later years.
