Album
Under the Midnight Sun
Under the Midnight Sun is the eleventh studio album by the Cult, the British rock band whose records run from 1984's Dreamtime through to Hidden City in 2016. It came out on 7 October 2022 on Black Hill Records, and it sits within a gothic and hard rock sound that the group has carried across four decades.
The record was produced by Tom Dalgety, and much of it was made at Rockfield Studios, the same place where the band recorded Dreamtime in 1984. That return gives the album a neat sense of circling back to where their story began, and it is the main reason to hear it alongside the early records. For anyone who followed the band from Love and Electric through to Sonic Temple, it makes a fitting late chapter.
