Stoosh
Stoosh is the second studio album by Skunk Anansie, the British rock band who had arrived the year before with Paranoid & Sunburnt. It came out in October 1996 on One Little Indian Records, and it sits at the heart of their first run of records, ahead of Post Orgasmic Chill in 1999 and their return with Wonderlustre in 2010.
The album's genres are listed as rock, alternative rock and pop, which suits a band that mixed heavy guitars with a sharp ear for a hook. If you only know Skunk Anansie through their debut, Stoosh is the record that shows where they went next, and it is the natural place to hear how their sound developed in the mid-1990s. Riffology has an article and podcast episode (RIFF037) telling its story in full.
