Live at Chelmsford Top Security Prison
Live at Chelmsford Top Security Prison is a Sex Pistols live album, released by Restless Records on 5 February 1990. It captures a show played at Chelmsford Prison on 17 September 1976, while Glen Matlock was still in the band, which makes it a snapshot of the group's early days, well before their only studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols, appeared in 1977.
What sets this version apart is the treatment it received from Dave Goodman, the band's early soundman. He added overdubs and inserted material, including a canned track of a riot with shouting, scuffles and breaking glass. The same concert tracks also turned up in their original running order, without the extras, on the Sex Pistols: Alive CD. Hearing the two side by side shows how much production can change the feel of one gig.
