Filthy Lucre: Live
Filthy Lucre Live captures the reunited Sex Pistols on stage at Finsbury Park in London on 23 June 1996, during the Filthy Lucre Tour. It came out in July 1996 on EMI, and it arrived nearly two decades after the band's only studio album of the 1970s, Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols.
The link to that debut matters here. Chris Thomas, who produced Never Mind the Bollocks and is known for his work with The Beatles and Roxy Music, produced and mixed this record at Townhouse Studios in London. He is credited with shaping the dense, layered sound the band is known for, so the live tracks get the same studio hand. BBC Radio 1 broadcast the whole gig, including the final encore, a cover of The Stooges' "No Fun". Only the Japanese edition includes it, making that version the one complete document of the night.
