The Dreadful Hours

Popularity38.7

The Dreadful Hours is the seventh studio album by English doom metal band My Dying Bride, released on 13 November 2001 through Peaceville. It sits between The Light at the End of the World (1999) and Songs of Darkness, Words of Light (2004), and its sound draws on doom, death metal, death-doom and gothic metal, the blend the band had worked in since the start.

The record also looks back to the beginning. It includes a remake of "The Return of the Beautiful" from their debut, As the Flower Withers, retitled "The Return to the Beautiful". That makes it a good place to hear how far the band had travelled since 1992 while still holding onto their roots. It came in a digipak with a full colour booklet, a nice touch for anyone who likes to hold the music in their hands.
