Symphonaire infernus et spera empyrium

Symphonaire Infernus et Spera Empyrium is the first EP by English doom metal band My Dying Bride, released in 1992 on Peaceville. It came only a few months after the band signed to the label, and it was their first release as a five-piece, following the arrival of bassist Adrian Jackson. Dave McKean designed the artwork, and he went on to create other sleeves for the band, including As the Flower Withers.

The title track was first recorded for their debut demo, Towards the Sinister, and that version later appeared on the compilation Meisterwerk 1. Its video, found on For Darkest Eyes, pairs slow-motion footage of the band walking through the wilderness with strange imagery. The EP was later collected in the limited box set The Stories, and then on the 1995 compilation Trinity alongside two other singles, The Thrash of Naked Limbs and I Am the Bloody Earth.
