Monster Magnet
Monster Magnet's self-titled debut EP came out on 1 February 1990 through Glitterhouse Records, a German label. It sits at the very start of the American band's story, a few steps ahead of their first full-length record, and it is filed under hard rock, psychedelic rock and stoner rock.
What makes it worth a listen is how much of it the band kept coming back to. "Snake Dance" and "Nod Scene" were re-recorded for the debut album Spine of God in 1991, so you can hear them in an earlier form here. "Tractor" had a second life too, reworked for Powertrip in 1998. For anyone tracing the band's path, it is a handy first chapter.
