Album
The Wings of War
The Wings of War is the nineteenth studio album by New Jersey thrash metal band Overkill, released on 22 February 2019 through Chaos Reigns. It follows The Grinding Wheel from 2017 and sits between that record and 2023's Scorched in a catalogue that stretches back to Feel the Fire in 1985.
The big change here is behind the kit. Jason Bittner makes his first appearance with the band, taking over after Ron Lipnicki left shortly after The Grinding Wheel came out. Lipnicki had been in the drum seat since ReliXIV in 2005, so this marks the first new drummer on an Overkill album in well over a decade. For anyone who has followed the band through their long run of studio albums, it's a chance to hear how a fresh pair of hands fits into their thrash sound.
