Bloodletting
Bloodletting is Overkill's eleventh studio album, released on 24 October 2000. It follows Necroshine from 1999 and sits between the band's late-nineties run and Killbox 13 in 2003. The record's sound is rooted in thrash and groove metal, and it came out through Steamhammer in the US, with Metal-Is credited as the label on the original release.
It's a record of change for the band. Joe Comeau and Sebastian Marino had left, and Dave Linsk came in on guitar. That made Overkill a four-piece in the studio, something they hadn't done since The Years of Decay in 1989, and they haven't recorded that way since. For anyone tracing the group's story through its line-ups, Bloodletting is the stripped-back, single-guitar chapter, and it's worth hearing for that reason alone.
