Scorched
Scorched is Overkill's twentieth studio album, released on 14 April 2023 through Nuclear Blast Records. It follows The Wings of War from 2019, and the four years between them make it the longest wait between studio records in the band's career. It sits in a run that began with Feel the Fire in 1985, and it keeps to the heavy metal and thrash metal ground the band has worked ever since.
It also marks the end of a chapter, as the last Overkill album to feature drummer Jason Bittner, who left in August 2024. Critics received it warmly, with Globalmetalblog.com calling it a slab of steel as solid as they come. For anyone who has followed the band since the eighties, it is a good measure of how a long-running thrash act sounds after nearly four decades.
