Icon is a compilation from Megadeth, released through Capitol Records in the United States on 11 March 2014. It is a heavy metal collection and arrives as one of the band's seven compilation albums, sitting alongside seventeen studio records and a handful of live releases and EPs.
Capitol was the label that signed Megadeth at the end of 1985, and it put out their major-label run beginning with Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? in 1986. A set like this is a handy way into that era, when Dave Mustaine's band moved from independent thrash to chart success, with Countdown to Extinction reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and "Symphony of Destruction" becoming their biggest hit single.
