Get Back: The Rooftop Performance
Get Back: The Rooftop Performance is the audio of the Beatles' final public concert, played on 30 January 1969 from the roof of their Apple Corps headquarters at 3 Savile Row in London. Billy Preston joined them on keyboards for a 42-minute set, which ran to nine takes of five new songs while onlookers gathered in the streets and on neighbouring rooftops, many of them on their lunch breaks. The police eventually arrived and asked for the volume to come down.
The recording came out on 28 January 2022, after footage from the day featured in the 1970 film Let It Be and the 2021 series The Beatles: Get Back. Some of these performances had already reached the Let It Be album, including the first run through "I've Got a Feeling". Here you can hear the set as a whole, ending with "Get Back" and John Lennon's quip that he hoped they had passed the audition.
