Tokyo Tapes
Tokyo Tapes is the first live album by the German band Scorpions, released on 15 August 1978 through RCA. It was recorded at a concert on 27 April, and it closed two chapters at once: it was their last release for RCA, and the final one to feature guitarist Uli Jon Roth, who left after that taping session.
That makes it a useful marker in the band's story. It follows the run of studio albums from Lonesome Crow in 1972 to Taken by Force in 1977, and it sits just before Lovedrive in 1979. If you want to hear the hard rock and heavy metal sound of the Roth years captured on stage, this is the record to reach for.
