Mad Butcher
Mad Butcher is the second EP from German thrash metal band Destruction, released in 1987 on Steamhammer. It arrived between the albums Eternal Devastation and Release From Agony, and it marks a change for the band: their first studio recording as a four-piece rather than a trio. Tommy Sandmann had left, and Oliver Kaiser on drums and guitarist Harry Wilkens joined.
The four tracks make a varied bunch. The title song is a re-recording from the Sentence of Death EP, played faster and with double solos from Sifringer and Wilkens. Next comes a cover of The Damned by the Plasmatics, then "Reject Emotions", which sounds like a power ballad without quite being one. The EP closes with "The Last Judgement", an instrumental played by Wilkens. It's a useful snapshot of Destruction finding their feet with a new line-up.
