How the West Was Won
How the West Was Won is a live triple album from Led Zeppelin, issued by Atlantic on CD on 27 May 2003. It was later released on DVD-Audio in October 2003 and on Blu-ray audio in 2018. The recordings come from two Californian shows on their 1972 North American tour: the L.A. Forum on 25 June and Long Beach Arena on 27 June.
It arrived long after the band's run of studio albums, which ended with Coda in 1982, and it catches them in the period between Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy. For anyone who knows the studio records well, it offers a chance to hear those songs stretched out on stage, drawn from a pair of nights in the same week.
