My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance are an American rock band from New Jersey, formed in September 2001 by Gerard Way, his brother Mikey, Ray Toro and drummer Matt Pelissier, with Frank Iero joining later. They sit within emo, pop punk and alternative rock, though the band themselves rejected the emo label. Their debut, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, arrived in 2002 on Eyeball Records.

A move to Reprise brought Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004, which went platinum, and Bob Bryar took over on drums soon after. The Black Parade, a 2006 rock opera concept album, was their biggest success, and its lead single "Welcome to the Black Parade" topped the UK singles chart. Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys followed in 2010. The band split in 2013, reunited in 2019, and toured in 2022 and early 2023.
