Surgical Remission / Surplus Steel EP
Surgical Remission / Surplus Steel is an EP from the British extreme metal band Carcass, released in November 2014 on Nuclear Blast. It gathers songs recorded during the sessions for Surgical Steel, the album the band had put out the year before.
For anyone who loved that comeback, it works as a short return to the same studio sessions. Surgical Steel was Carcass's first full-length since Swansong in 1996, and this EP sits between it and the later Torn Arteries, which arrived in 2021. It is a modest release, but it offers a little more from a period when the band was back in form, playing death metal in the vein that made them a name from Reek of Putrefaction onwards.
