Peel Sessions is a 1989 EP from Carcass, released through Strange Fruit, the label known for issuing BBC session recordings. It sits in the band's early run, in the same year as their second album, Symphonies of Sickness, and just after their debut, Reek of Putrefaction (1988).

Carcass formed in Liverpool in 1985 and mixed death metal with grindcore, a blend often tagged as deathgrind. This release gives a short, raw look at the band at that early stage, before Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious (1991) and Heartwork (1993) took them further. It is worth hearing if you want the band's formative sound in a compact form, with guitarist Bill Steer and bassist-vocalist Jeff Walker, the two constants of their story, at the centre of it.
